How To Enrol As An Advocate After Completing Law School?

Every law graduate who wishes to practice as an advocate must register with their respective State Bar Council after which s/he shall undertake the Bar Examination (AIBE) to get ‘Certificate to Practice’.

These are steps to enroll as an advocate with Bar Council of Delhi. It is a tedious task and it takes roughly 12 months to 18 months.

Step 1. Obtain the Application form from the Office of Bar Council of Delhi for a sum of INR 1000/-

Step 2. Fill the Enrollment Application Form + Identity Card Form (for provisional identity card) + Form V (Delhi Advocates Welfare Fund)

Step 3. Reach the Bar Council of Delhi Office at Siri Fort. (process takes 4 hours at least)

Step. 4. Go to the Bar Council office again to deposit the Challan Receipts. Don’t forget to take your receipt copy from the office.

Step 5. Submit the Advocate Welfare Fund Form (White form) along with remaining challan receipts as directed by the help-desk.

Step 6. Submit your identity card form to the submission window.

Congratulations, you have successfully completed first part of this tedious task.
