People say that Holi is based upon a real story . There was a king named Hirnay kashyap, who wanted to kill his son Prahlad because he didn’t paid tribute to him. So Hirnay kashyap asked her sister Holika to carry Prahlad in her lap and sit in fire, but Holika had godly power upon her that she can never burn. But god did not approve of it and Holika died. That is why there is a ritual of Holika dehan to show the victory symbol of good over bad.
On the next day after holika dehan, Dulhandi is celebrated where people play with colors and wash away all the cast discriminations, complexion differences and differences upon gender. Kids in India are very curious to play with water colors and dry colors, so they start to play very early in the morning.
